Fuel cost comparison

Could a different fuel lower your heat cost?

Compare current and proposed fuels at the same useful heat demand. Use matching delivered-cost and NCV reporting boundaries. All prefilled inputs are illustrative, not quotations.

Enter your figures and select Compare. A lower price per tonne does not always mean a lower useful-heat cost.

How the estimate works

Useful heat cost/GJ = delivered price per tonne ÷ (as-received NCV in MJ/kg × efficiency as a decimal).

Monthly fuel spend = useful heat demand in kW × 3.6 × operating hours × days ÷ 1,000 × useful heat cost/GJ.

Estimated difference = current monthly fuel spend − proposed monthly fuel spend. A negative difference means the proposed fuel costs more.

Equipment conversion, financing, maintenance, ash disposal, storage and transport constraints can change the outcome. This tool compares fuel expenditure only. It does not establish equipment suitability, emissions or guaranteed savings.
