Your equipment brief
Include manufacturer and model, grate or burner type, current fuel, heat or steam load, feed system and any fuel-size restrictions from the equipment manual.
Your fuel brief
Request feedstock, dimensions, as-received NCV, moisture, ash and relevant durability, fines, chlorine and ash-fusion data. The necessary test set depends on the equipment and fuel.
Your purchasing brief
State destination port, expected demand, packaging and trial requirements. Compare landed cost per unit of useful heat on the same boundary and currency.

| Topic | Useful detail |
|---|---|
| Identity | Manufacturer, model, manual revision and permitted fuel specification. |
| Combustion and feeding | Grate/burner type, feed system, size limits and control arrangement. |
| Duty | Heat or steam requirement, operating hours and normal/minimum/peak load. |
| Current operation | Present fuel, observed limitations and reason for considering a change. |
| Fuel evidence | Proposed feedstock and sample-linked results required by the equipment provider. |
| Receiving site | Storage, unloading, conveying and ash-removal constraints. |
When suitability has not been established
A visually similar pellet is not enough when the manual excludes its feedstock, required test data are missing, or the proposed dimensions conflict with the feeding system. Ask the equipment manufacturer or an appropriately qualified reviewer to resolve those conditions before use.
The graded-wood-pellet standard describes a fuel classification framework; it does not certify the photographed fuel or approve a particular boiler. Written equipment requirements and supply evidence must still be compared.
Agree a trial record
Record the proposed fuel sample, trial operating conditions, observations, measurements, stop conditions and person responsible for acceptance. Include handling and ash-removal performance as well as useful heat. Use the resulting operating data to improve your cost estimate instead of carrying demonstration efficiency into a purchase decision.

Official references below explain the relevant method or scope. Our purchasing worksheets and illustrative calculations are not batch results, certification or equipment approval.
