Wood Pellet Test Reports: A Buyer’s Reading Worksheet

A laboratory result applies to its tested sample. Connect the report to the fuel batch and agreed specification before using it to support a purchase.

Identify the material

Record feedstock, batch, sampling date, sampling procedure and laboratory. Keep the report identifier and all pages of the report together.

Check the result

For each parameter retain the result, unit, method and basis. Check whether the report provides NCV or GCV, and whether moisture and ash use the same reporting basis as the purchase agreement.

Certification is different

A test report is not a product certificate. Verify certificate holder, production site, scope and validity through the issuing scheme. A wood-pellet scheme does not automatically cover non-woody pellets.

When a field is missing

Ask the issuing laboratory or supplier to clarify the report. Do not fill missing units or a dry/as-received basis from assumptions. Retain the original document and the clarification together. If accreditation is important for your purchase, verify the relevant test scope with the accreditation body; a logo alone is insufficient.

Report versus certificate

A report records results for identified samples. A product certificate concerns an identified holder and scope under a certification scheme. Neither a report cover nor a product photograph proves that a shipment is certified. If DIN PLUS evidence is requested, obtain the certificate and verify its holder, site, scope, validity and authorised use before making a claim.

No batch test report or certification is represented by this blank worksheet. Request the available evidence for the proposed supply from Jasmine Li.
