Start with a destination, not just a country
“Delivery to Europe” is too broad for a comparable quote. A port delivery and a delivery to an inland boiler site involve different responsibilities and charges. Provide the destination port or receiving postcode, unloading equipment and preferred delivery window. Keep the agreed delivery term and named place visible on each offer.
Energy-market uncertainty can make a quick purchasing decision tempting. An incomplete freight or receiving assumption can erase an apparent fuel-price advantage. Do the shipment calculation before treating a lower unit price as a saving.
Use the same cost boundary for every offer
| Cost or condition | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Fuel and packing | What the quoted price includes; net fuel weight separate from bags and pallets. |
| Origin handling and export transport | Included services and any separately quoted charges. |
| Main freight and insurance | Route, scope, validity and responsibility for each item. |
| Destination charges | Handling, clearance and any other applicable charges; confirm with your logistics adviser. |
| Taxes and import requirements | Obtain shipment-specific advice; compare recoverable and non-recoverable taxes consistently. |
| Inland transport and unloading | Receiving point, vehicle access, unloading responsibility and handling equipment. |
| Storage and scheduling | Dry storage capacity, arrival window and responsibility for delays or extra storage. |
Do not add a charge twice when it is already included in the offer. Keep unknown costs marked as unconfirmed rather than treating them as zero. This checklist is a quotation aid, not a determination of a shipment’s customs or regulatory obligations.
Divide by net tonnes of fuel—not gross shipment weight
Delivered €/net tonne = total included costs to the agreed receiving point ÷ net tonnes of fuel.
For example, a hypothetical €6,000 total covering 20 net tonnes gives €300 per net tonne. If a separate €400 inland delivery charge is excluded, the same load costs €320 per net tonne at that inland point. These numbers are invented arithmetic, not freight rates, a container-loading promise or a WoodPelletCN offer.
Use that delivered figure with identified as-received NCV and equipment efficiency to calculate cost per useful MWh. Different heat values can reverse a comparison based only on tonnes.
Match packaging to the receiving operation
Check bag handling, pallet dimensions, forklift access and dry storage before choosing a format. Ask for the proposed net load and packing arrangement; do not assume every container carries the same weight. Our export packaging checklist and packing photographs help you prepare these questions.
Send a brief that can produce a useful quote
Provide destination, application, required fuel specification, expected quantity, packing preference and requested arrival period. Tell us whether you already operate suitable biomass equipment. WoodPelletCN can review these requirements with you and prepare a quotation subject to confirmation of supply, specifications and shipment terms.
Keep technical acceptance separate from logistics pricing: a low delivered cost does not establish equipment compatibility or regulatory compliance. Agree acceptance criteria and review relevant test evidence before ordering.
Buyer questions
What information is needed for a wood pellet quotation to Europe?
Send the destination, quantity, application, fuel requirements, packing preference and delivery window. Include the receiving constraints and requested delivery scope.
Can I compare a port price with a delivered-to-site price?
Only after bringing both to the same cost boundary. Identify any missing transport, handling or other charges before comparing.
Does a container photograph establish the load for my order?
No. Net loading depends on the agreed packing and transport constraints. Confirm the shipment-specific loading plan in writing.
